New Attitude

When I first started making jewelry I was a purest, silver ONLY silver, nothing else. With the soaring prices of silver I needed to let my imagination and creativity expand. Look around, touch, feel something new. “Try it you might like it” my little voice screeched. So I did and I am so glad I did. I love it all the bronze, the silver, the ribbons, the way the brass looks with the glass. So I’ve been busy getting ready for the show this weekend at 70 Main Greenwich NY. Have a look……………..

Mothers Day and Local Art

On Saturday, May 12th from 10-6 there will be a Local Artist Market at Seventy Main in Greenwich, NY. Beautifully handcrafted items made by local artists will be featured throughout the weekend. Some of the participating artists include: Nancy Bariluk-Smith will bring hand-made glass beaded jewelry and mixed media jewelry pieces with hand dyed ribbon, brass and gunmetal wire; Robin Blakney-Carlson has hand felted scarves and handbags made with fine merino wool and natural fibers; Jane McMillen will have wallets, small purses, pin cushions and other small gift items; Chung-Ah Park offering nature inspired pottery; Kendra Farstad with pastel landscape artwork and note cards; Judy Leon with alpaca yarn, roving and felted scarves and other alpaca items; Susan Quillio of Spoonful Catering will be offering a Spring Lunch Menu; 100 Mile Savory Pie gift pack & single pack; Mother’s Day gift chocolates; and Maria Wulf offering quilted potholders and wall hangings made from recycled fabric (clothes and fabric). There will be live music throughout the day, and Farmer’s Market outside from 11-2 and a presentation by local artist and author Jon Katz on Saturday at 2pm to discuss aspects of fine art photography. He says “I will not be talking about the technical details of lenses and photography, about which I know nothing, but the opportunity photography – digital and film – gives us to pick subjects, frame and compose them, find inspiration, seek out the light and color of the world and inspire ourselves.” He will also be offering his work as note cards.

Ready Set Go….

On any given day I can see my work making its way through town. Here are three pieces of mine that I saw last week. This necklace and bracelet were both new designs for me and both sold before opening the doors to my last show. It inspired me to work on more bubble beads( the beads on the necklace).

I am getting ready for our next show in Greenwich on Mothers Day weekend May 12th and 13th. Yes this time is will be a group effort. My good friends Maria Wolf and Jon Katz will be there and many more artist will be showing at 70 Main Street in Greenwich NY. It was the home of Green Pea Market a few years ago and is now a wonderful space waiting for us. More on the show later….I’ll keep you posted when the other artists have confirmed.

Taking the Gloves Off

I saw these great fingerless gloves this winter and had to have them. During my week of inspiration ( more like a life time of inspiration ) I took a picture of them and then used it as inspiration for a pair of earrings. I’m very happy with the results. They intentionally don’t match, another one of my favorite things to do. Look for my new inspiration pieces  at Gallery 99. The show is being held at The M Dolan Jr Building, 3 Broad St in Glens Falls NY on the 31st.  The show will run for 3 days Thursday, February 2nd thru Saturday the 4th. Some of the Gallery exhibitors including myself are Maria Wolf, Diane Swanson, Chung-Ah Park, Robin Blakney-Carlson and Jon Katz

Meet the artists Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012  (5-8pm)

See you there!

Just keep trying

Its January already. I will try to post more. I will try to post once a week. I can do that, sure yes I can!!

This week I encountered a new phenomenon. The glass I kept adding kept breaking, not once but twice! That’s it I said ” I will NOT be defeated”.

If I can keep going, even when the glass keeps doing something other than what I imaged, I can post a comment on my web site…How can that be so difficult??
