Brass is beautiful

When I started making jewelry 5 years ago the price of silver was around $9.50/ oz. It jumped to $13.00 about a year later and I thought wow that’s crazy I’ll wait until it drops again. The price never did come down, it just kept going up and up. Today the price of silver is $32.16 /oz!!!…That has made me clarify my mission statement. What do I want to accomplish ? What is Spinning Glass Studio to me? I want to make  jewelry for everyone and for every price, from the very expensive to to the casual fun funky ring or tea ball. What a joy it is to sit down with an assortment of findings and just let your creative mind go.

Finding my point of view

This year I really wanted to push myself. My idea was to take the things from my past, my love of fiber and mixed media and blend them into my glass art. The work bench was full of supplies. I  made a variety of beads, purchased bass and gunmetal wire , sought out interesting findings and then sat down to see what would happen…Here is a glimpse.

To see more, everything will be available on Saturday at the Studio from 1o-5.

I am still learning my way blogging it feels like plodding!! I was thing about my cousin Terri since she asked for something to go with denim…Am I heading in the right direction??
